This Week in the World Affairs Brief

IRAN AND ISRAEL’S PRELUDE TO WAR

For over 5 years now Israel has been openly attacking Iranian fighters and proxy fighters in Syria, daring Iran to come out in open retaliation and give Israel the chance for a “shock and awe” style war—backed up by the West, of course. But Iran has not previously taken the bait because it wasn’t yet ready to go to war with Israel or the US. But after Israel’s latest provocation—an attack on Iran’s Syrian Embassy annex on April 1st that killed 7 high ranking officers in a clear violation of international law, Iran finally hit back with a barrage of 300+ aerial weapons ranging from hundreds of armed drones to ballistic and cruise missiles. Iran still isn’t ready to prosecute this war, but it is getting close, and felt it had to give a limited response this time. Only a few of the projectiles made it through Israel’s layered anti-missile defense system thanks to the help of US, British and Jordanian aircraft which shot down most of the faster and more advanced missiles. Interestingly, Iran avoided targeting cities and aimed mostly at military installations, indicating a desire to punish Israel without civilian casualties, all the while issuing warning statements about a much larger barrage if Israel chooses to retaliate and go to war with Iran. But the most interesting aspect has been the delay in the Israeli response, because of US demands on Israel not to retaliate in any major way. Israel did anyway early this morning with a limited attack (to save face with public expectations), so we’ll have to see if it is enough to cause an Iranian escalated response. This week I’ll show you why I think the US is trying to dampen down the prospect of war and how it represents a change in their globalist agenda—at least for the short term. Unsealed Court Docs Reveal Biden DOJ Colluded With National Archives To Target Trump, Jack Smith Tried To Conceal

ZeroHedge

What's more, Special Counsel Jack Smith sought to conceal this - telling Judge Eileen Cannon in February that Trump's counsel isn't entitled to discovery on documents between the White House and NARA, that the court should toss requests for evidence of the alleged coordination, and that the court should deny Trump's request for evidence related to secure facilities at his residences. Further, Trump's request for unredacted discovery of materials should be denied.

NYU, Columbia, Yale Crack Down On Demonstrators As Anti-Israel Protests Intensify

ZeroHedge

The protests, which have been growing in size and intensity over the last week, were met with aggressive crackdowns from school administrators and police, as a wave of arrests, suspensions and canceled classes. Last week, officials at Columbia University called the cops to remove demonstrators who want the school to exit all investments that benefit the government of Israel amid the rising death toll in Gaza, which now stands at more than 34,000 according to local health officials. The war was sparked by the Oct. 7 Hamas attack on southern Israel, in which militants killed around 1,200 people (mostly civilians), and took 250 hostages.

'The Most Secure Election in American History'

Gatestone Institute

To this day, there are 120,000 more votes that were cast in Pennsylvania than their records show voters who have cast votes. Think about that: 120,000 more votes than voters who cast votes. The margin in Pennsylvania was 80,000. Election officials in heavily Democrat counties [in Wisconsin] also set up drop boxes. They even set up what they called "human drop boxes" in Madison, which is the home of the University of Wisconsin. For two or three consecutive Saturdays before the election, they basically ran a ballot harvesting scheme at taxpayer expense with volunteers – whom I suspect were actually supporters of the Biden campaign -- working as "deputized" county clerks to go collect all these ballots, in violation of state law. A lot of these came in with the witness signatures, but the address not filled in. The county clerks were directed by the Secretary of State to fill the information in on their own. In other words, they were doctoring the evidence.

While Congress Abandons Border, $3.5 Billion Slipped Into Israel Bill For 'Migrants And Refugees'

ZeroHedge

Of course, nowhere in the bill does it say which migrants, from where, or how the funds can be used to 'assist' them. Given that it's part of the Israel package, one might assume it's referring to refugees from Gaza - however that isn't articulated in the text, so we can only assume the funds can apply to whatever the State Departments wants, assuming Congress and the President activate them. So, while there's a nebulous set of words governing the $3.5 billion, and which has the appearance of 'checks and balances,' Congress has provided a virtual slush fund for yet another category of people who aren't Americans, and has failed to pass legislation that would protect the country from the economic & national security risks posed by unchecked illegal migration.

Speaker Johnson Casts Deciding Vote to Allow the FBI to Spy on Americans Without a Warrant

Red State

The House of Representatives turned aside an amendment to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act renewal that would have required a warrant before information gathered about Americans could be made available to law enforcement. The amendment, offered by Arizona Republican Andy Biggs, prohibits warrantless searches of U.S. person communications in the FISA 702 database, with exceptions for imminent threats to life or bodily harm, consent searches, or known cybersecurity threat signatures. By a vote of 212-212, the amendment failed. One hundred and twenty-eight Republicans voted for the amendment, and 86 voted against it. On the Democrat side, the vote was 84 yes and 126 no.

What are Mises’s Six Lessons?

The Mises Institute

Mises begins his first lecture with an overview of the development of capitalism out of feudalism. Businesses began “mass production to satisfy the needs of the masses” instead of focusing on producing luxury goods for the elite. These big businesses succeeded because they served the needs of a larger group of people, and their success wholly depended on their ability to give this mass of consumers what they wanted.

I’ve Been at NPR for 25 Years. Here’s How We Lost America’s Trust.

The Free Press

It’s true NPR has always had a liberal bent, but during most of my tenure here, an open-minded, curious culture prevailed. We were nerdy, but not knee-jerk, activist, or scolding. In recent years, however, that has changed. Today, those who listen to NPR or read its coverage online find something different: the distilled worldview of a very small segment of the U.S. population. If you are conservative, you will read this and say, duh, it’s always been this way. But it hasn’t.

NPR Scandal Should Kill Taxpayer-Funded Broadcasting

Real Clear Wire

Lest there be any doubt, NPR just proved it by suspending, without pay, the staffer who exposed the pervasive problems there. He dared to write publicly that that National Public Radio was uniformly ideological, deeply committed to its strident left-wing views, and determined to exclude any alternatives. For saying that out loud, they cut off Uri Berliner’s paycheck for five days. It’s their way of saying, “Thank you for your feedback.” Q.E.D.

Utah Students Stage Walkout To Protest 'Barking And Biting Furries' In The Classroom

ZeroHedge

Today, the progressive ideology has devolved into a bizarre form of cultism in which almost all behavior is justified as long as it is minority behavior. This includes the behaviors of the mentally unstable and deranged; such people are swiftly becoming the most popular minority on the victimhood totem pole. Nebo Middle School in Utah County has recently witnessed what might be the beginning of the end of the "anything goes" era in public schooling, with students (not just parents) protesting en masse over the disruptive inclusion of children identifying as furries and allegedly harassing other kids. Students claim that furries bark in class, bite and scratch other children while generally creating chaos.

Idaho Supreme Court Upholds Ban on Student IDs for Voting

The Epoch Times

House Bill 124 removed student IDs as acceptable proof of identity at polling places, while House Bill 340 revised the identification needed for voter registration, eliminating the option to use the last four digits of a social security number. Instead, voters must now present a current Idaho driver’s license, a U.S. passport, a tribal identification card, or a concealed weapon license.

"We Have 15,000 Samples In Wuhan ... Could Do Full Genomes Of 700 CoVs": Rand Paul Drops COVID Bombshell

ZeroHedge

Last week Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) wrote in a Tuesday op-ed that officials from 15 federal agencies "knew in 2018 that the Wuhan Institute of Virology was trying to create a coronavirus like COVID-19." These officials knew that the Chinese lab was proposing to create a COVID 19-like virus and not one of these officials revealed this scheme to the public. In fact, 15 agencies with knowledge of this project have continuously refused to release any information concerning this alarming and dangerous research.

Zelensky Angry That Israel Prioritized By West, Says Ukraine Running Out Of Missiles To Defend Airspace

ZeroHedge

On Wednesday Russian missiles slammed into the northern Ukrainian city of Chernihiv, killing at least 17 people and wounding scores more, according to local officials. The attack came during a busy time of the day in a downtown district. President Volodymyr Zelensky in the wake of the deadly strikes, which involved at least three missiles hitting targets, lashed out at the West for failing to provide more vital anti-air defenses and missiles. "This would not have happened if Ukraine had received enough air defense equipment and if the world’s determination to counter Russian terror was also sufficient," he stated.

"I Can't Go To My Son's Graduation": NY Judge Threatens Trump With Arrest

ZeroHedge

Speaking after a long day of jury selection and ground rules (with more than 50 jurors dismissed), Trump walked out of the courtroom and expressed his obvious displeasure. "As you know my son is graduating from High School, and looks like the judge will not let me go to the graduation for a son who's worked very, very hard," Trump said, adding that he was "looking forward for years to having graduation with his mother and father there," adding that the trial is a "scam" and a "political witch hunt."

20 Years Later, Abu Ghraib Torture Victims Get Their Day in Court

Common Dreams

Plaintiffs Suhail Al Shimari, Asa'ad Zuba'e, and Salah Al-Ejaili accuse CACI of conspiring to commit war crimes including torture at Abu Ghraib, where the men suffered broken bones, electric shocks, sexual abuse, extreme temperatures, and death threats at the hands of their U.S. interrogators. "This lawsuit is a critical step towards justice for these three men who will finally have their day in court. But they are the lucky few," Sarah Sanbar, an Iraq researcher at Human Rights Watch, wrote on Monday. "For the hundreds of other survivors still suffering from past abuses, their chances of justice remain slim."

Johnson, Trump Announce Election Integrity Bill to Require Proof of Citizenship to Vote

Epoch Times

Though some jurisdictions allow noncitizens to participate in local elections, it is illegal for them to vote in all state and federal elections. However, the United States’ federal voter registration form does not require documentary proof of citizenship, and states’ efforts to impose such a requirement have been challenged by the Biden administration. The new legislation, the speaker said, would establish new safeguards to ensure only citizens can vote. The provisions would require states to remove noncitizens from their voter rolls and would provide them with access to Department of Homeland Security and Social Security Administration databases to help them do so.

Biden Tells Bibi: US Will Not Support A Counterattack Against Iran After Hundreds Of Drones, Missiles Sent

Zerohedge

...Live visuals have shown projectiles falling on Israel. Iran is now very publicly saying the matter has "concluded": IRAN’S UN MISSION: “Iran’s military action was in response to the Zionist regime’s aggression against our diplomatic premises in Damascus. The matter can be deemed concluded. However, should the Israeli regime make another mistake, Iran’s response will be considerably more severe. It is a conflict between Iran and the rogue Israeli regime, from which the U.S. MUST STAY AWAY!” From Israel's perspective, Iran has now crossed a red line, and Netanyahu is likely to now see himself as having carte blanche to take out Iran nuclear facilities.

Gulf Allies Warn US Not To Launch Strikes On Iran From Their Territory

Zerohedge

The Arab Gulf countries are worried that the US could launch attacks on Iran from their territories or airspace. Middle East Eye (MEE) reports, "Gulf monarchies are urging the US not to use American military bases on their territories to strike in response to any potential Iranian attack on Israel," according to security sources.
